Conversions

Measuring cups black and white

If you read my about me page, then you know I was a journalism student. Now, us journalists aren’t exactly known for being good at math. There are some who excel. I am not one of those.

This is why I decided to start out with a collective list of conversions. When adjusting recipes for serving size, it’s important to know how to cut the measurements down correctly.

  • There are 3 teaspoons in a tablespoon.
  •  1 1/2 tsp. in 1/2 tbsp.
  • 2/3 tsp. is 1/3 tbsp.
  • 16 tbsp. in a cup.
  • 14 tbsp. in 3/4 a cup
  • About 5.3 tbsp. in a 1/3 cup
  • 4 tbsp. in a 1/4 cup
  • 8 oz. in 1 cup
  • 1 pint equals 2 cups or 16 fluid oz.
  • 1 quart equals 4 cups or 32 fluid oz.
  • 1 gallon equals 16 cups or 128 fluid oz.
